Governor Brown mandates first-ever water restrictions in California

On April 1, after disappointing snowpack measurements, Governor Edmund G. Brown directed the first-ever statewide mandatory water restrictions, and called on all Californians to reduce water usage by 25%.  The announced actions will save water, increase enforcement to prevent wasteful water use, streamline the state’s drought response, and invest in new technologies that will make California more drought resilient.
