Inyo-Mono IRWMP brings CEQA Workshops to the Region

In a continued effort to build capacity throughout the Inyo-Mono region and as outlined in Task 6 of the Planning Grant, the Inyo-Mono Program Office is pleased to announce a series of no-cost workshops featuring the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Four workshops will be held in Bridgeport (Dec. 8), Mammoth Lakes (Dec. 9), Bishop (Dec. 14) and Ridgecrest (Dec. 15) in an effort to reach the maximum audience in our region.

The Mammoth Lakes workshop titled “The Community Guide to CEQA” will be co-instructed by the Planning Conservation League and will target CEQA involvement of non-lead agencies. This particular workshop may be most appropriate for non-profit and environmental groups who seek further guidance on their involvement in the CEQA process and will cover projects subject to CEQA, the responsibilities of agencies, the EIR commenting process and how global warming fits into the CEQA process.

The other three workshops titled, “ Water Resources and the California Environmental Quality Act” will target lead agencies who are mandated to comply with CEQA. Topics covered in these workshop will include objectives and directives of CEQA, agencies bound by CEQA, CEQA participants, exemptions filing, CEQA documentation and lingo, and the many complex aspects of the EIR process.

All workshops were made possible from a generous contribution from the Law Firm of Chatten-Brown and Carstens of Southern California.

Registration is required for attendance to any of these workshops as space is limited!

Please see the flyer specific to the workshop you are interested in attending for details on how to register. Flyers can be downloaded from the Inyo-Mono IRWMP website homepage www.inyomonowater.org in the Upcoming Events list beneath the Calendar of Events on the Homepage.

*Attention Mammoth Lakes Workshop attendees. Due to the Planning Conservation League involvement in this particular workshop there is a required registration fee. Funding from the Planning Grant is available to cover registration fees for up to 15 participants from the Inyo-Mono RWMG. You will need to email Holly Alpert at holly@inyomonowater.org to receive a registration fee waiver discount code that will allow you to register without payment.
